You can take someone out of Iowa, but you can’t take the Iowa out of them. That goes for Cooper DeJean and his love for his home state. Ahead of Super Bowl LIX, the former Iowa Hawkeyes All-American paid honor to his high school with his clothing choices when arriving at the stadium.
DeJean grew up in Odebolt, Iowa, and attended OABCIG, which is a conglomerate school of the surrounding areas. While there he starred in football, basketball, baseball and track before joining the Iowa Hawkeyes, with whom he became a household name for his elite play.
To honor his roots, DeJean wore his high school letterman jacket to the Super Bowl to let the entire world know where he is from and give his hometown and high school its moment in the shine. The letter F on the jacket stands for Falcons, the school’s nickname.
Ahead of the big game, fans took to social media to show their appreciation to DeJean’s jacket ahead of kickoff on what happens to also be his birthday.
