PlayStation State of Play February 2025 – Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2? – Eurogamer

Neither, but Housemarque’s Returnal follow-up Saros revealed.
What is the state of play? Well, tonight Sony is going to tell us in a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, which begins at a not horrendous time of 10pm UK (5pm ET / 11pm CET). As always, we’ll be running a blow-by-blow report here in this article, where you can also watch the stream and chat to us.
What are we likely to see tonight? The show will be 40-minutes long apparently (also not horrendous) and the chances of a Ghost of Yotei showing, and a Death Stranding 2 showing, seem high. We haven’t seen either for a while and both are expected to release this year.
We’re also hoping we might get a look at Bungie’s long-in-development Marathon, which is a fitting name, and the much talked about multiplayer component to Horizon. Could we also be in for a glimpse of Insomniac’s Wolverine? And what is remake specialist Bluepoint up to? What of the third-party games, too?
Our live coverage of this event has finished.
Here we are again, awaiting the unexpected, hoping to be thrilled. Hoping, perhaps beyond hope, that Sony announces Bloodborne 2. Will that game ever materialise or will it join such hallowed company as Hollow Knight: Silksong and Half-Life 3?
Oh my good god. The world is not ready for Knack remake.
Incidentally, sorry about this auto-scroll problem. I’ll raise the issue and see that it gets looked at.
10 minutes to go. I hope it’s a good show. How’s everybody doing this evening? Have you all got some nice refreshments or snacks? I’ve just had a wee glass of rakia from Buglaria. I’m pretty sure one of my partner’s friends made it. God knows how strong it is; very strong, by the taste of it.
Five minutes! Guesses for what’s up first – big start?
Hah – yes! Everyone seems to make their own. People just bring repurposed bottles of the stuff over and hand it to you.
Okay buckle up – here we go. The show is about to begin.
Monster Hunter Wilds, it looks like – a montage or a proper gameplay segment?
Not far off now of course. And it’s looking good. Can it appeal wider than to a Monster Hunter audience though?
We’re getting a bit of information on a post-launch update coming in the spring, bringing a dragon called Mizutsune, and in the summer there’ll be another free update.
That’s it for Monster Hunter. A functional start to the show.
Now: SEGA. From the creators of Streets of Rage 4 – Dotemu. This is Shinobi.
2D, platforming, crispy cartoon art. Dotemu really knows its stuff.
Shinobi: Argt of Vengeance, coming 29th August to PS5 and PS4.
Sonic Racing now, as dazzlingly bright as ever. There’s a giant dinosaur! Tails has a flying car! Now they’re racing around a kraken? This is krackers.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds closed network test coming 21st February.
Bandai Namco now and a bright anime cityscape. Oh gods its Digimon. There’s a new Digimon game.
Digimon Story: The Stranger, it’s called. How’s that for an edgy title? It’s coming 2025.
UltiZero games and Sony now, and a colossal dragon-looking thing and a young feminine hero. This looks very Final Fantasy.
It’s a very handsome game we’re seeing now – a mix of futuristic and fantasay. Wings sprouting from trenchcoats. It’s a full action game by the looks of things.
Lost Soul Aside, it’s called. It’s coming out 30th May.
Lost Soul Aside comes out the same day as Elden Ring Nightreign, by the way, which seems like a huge problem for it.
Whoops just toally glossed over the wrestling game there. It’s out pretty soon, so that makes me feel better at least. There’s Randy Pitchford and Borderlands 4 again. It looks pretty good; I like the soundtrack. Come on, Sony, show us the good stuff!
Gosh, there’s going to be an entire Borderlands 4 State of Play this summer. I don’t think we’ll live report that one.
Victoria’s just been away seeing Split Fiction, this new game from Josef Fares’ studio Hazelight. Look out for her impressions soon!
Here’s the new game from Supermassive – the makers of Until Dawn and The Quarry. It’s a sci-fi game by the look of things – things going wrong on a space station. The story seems to revolve around humans finding a strange biological thing and it slowly taking them over. Directive 8020 it’s called, and it’s coming out 2nd October.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic coming 13th June.
We’re seeing a hand-crafted “cosy horror” game now, which looks absolutely terrifying – I don’t know where the cosy horror part comes from. The Midnight Walk it’s called, and it’s coming 8th May.
A Roguelike Warriors game from Tecmo Koei now called Warriors Abyss. Did you hear that Tecmo Koei’s CEO of 47 stepped down the other day? 47 years! That’s longer than I’ve worked at Eurogamer. That’s out today by the way.
We’re getting a new trailer for the Onimusha game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword now, which is coming in 2026. Samurai are certainly en vogue at the moment.
Hello hello hello, who is
