Five months after its last outing, Sony has returned to the digital stage with a bumper State of Play show housing over 40 minutes of PS5 news, reveals, and game announcements. To have your say on the showcase, click on through to our latest Push Square Poll. Below you’ll find a complete list of all the announcements from Sony’s State of Play livestream in February 2025.
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he’s found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
A lot of great games there, 2025 is looking stacked. A shame the new Fantasy Life or Ghost of Yotei wasn’t shown but oh well.
I thought that was solid, particularly Tides of Annihilation, Darwin’s Paradox and a damn Lost Soul Aside release date.
Nice that we actually got a new first party game as well.
@UltimateOtaku91 May alone is looking stacked, there literally isn’t enough time to get everything on release date.
A lot of great stuff shown today, I’m pretty excited.
I don’t think it was terrible, but I did expect more which I think is realistic. The SOP from Feb. ‘22 demonstrates that Sony is capable of housing a show with numerous new announcements, and I was hoping for something like that here (No Resi at all? Square Enix? Level 5? FromSoftware?). If they had subbed a couple bangers like these in and kept the Housemarque finish, that would have been a good show for me. Otherwise, just okay, and I’ll look forward to the summer PS show in the meantime, as well as the upcoming Switch 2 Direct.
Buzzing! Mindsey3, Saros, Tides of Annihilation, Lost Soul Aside, Hell is Us… and frikkin’ Days Gone: Remastered (no cap Days Gone is incredible and it will be my privilege to plat that again).
Solid show with plenty of games set for 2025, I do admit that the lack of DS2 and especially Ghost of Yotei is surprising considering Sony still insist there coming this year.
Tides of Annihilation looks exceptional! I’m most excited about that one!!!
@ThroughTheIris56 add in the Switch 2 and the possibilities there as well 💀
Shinobi, Darwin’s paradox and directive 8020 were my stand outs in what was overall a slightly disappointing presentation. I really wish they’d stop with these needless ps4 remasters like was anyone really waiting for a days gone remaster? when there’s so many games from ps3 or earlier they could pick to remaster.
@Megayoshi96 I forgot about Shinobi… yeah as someone who considered Revenge of Shinobi in my all-time top 3 Megadrive games, I can’t wait!
I’ve got my eye on at least 5 in that list so I’m pretty happy 😁 new Onimusha is gonna be great and that futuristic FPS [Metal Eden] looks slick! Great selection of Japanese/Chinese/Korean games in there too.
Honestly, I’m more pumped than ever for the hobby – Kingdom Come is on the telly right now, a huge backlog of awesome games on the shelf and tons more coming up this year. My Pro has been blessed 😌
A pretty solid lineup that i’m probably can only afford to buy some of them on day 1.
@AdamNovice DS2 got it’s own presentation at next month SXSW and Ghost of Yotei possibly will get it’s own State of Play.
None of them I like. I still on the fence with Sonic Racing Cross Worlds. Anyway, glad I didn’t watch the state of play. I knew there will be no interesting games for me.
There is at least 7 or 8 games there I’m interested in.
If nothing in there appealed to you then maybe you should think about finding a new hobby because you’re definitely the problem.
They saved the best till last, absolutely buzzing for Saros!
What caught my attention though is a Shinobi game not because I wanted, but it made me think they really should make a new Shinobi game similar to either ninja gaiden.
@mountain_spider “should make a new Shinobi game similar to either ninja gaiden”
They already did back in PS2 days which i really enjoyed, although Nightshade / Kunoichi feels like a wasted potential since Hibana’s design looks cool (and sexy). Both games doesn’t sold well and that’s probably forced the series to stay in 2D side scroller genre.
I don’t know how anyone can see this list as well as the other games that we know are coming out this year like Ninja Gaiden 4, Doom, Yotei and DS2 (oh and whatever Ninty is cooking on Switch 2) and be so doom and gloom.
@Apollo2212 Well that was a massive waste of my time.
You too huh? I am sending Sony a bill of what i make hourly cause i would have had more fun working an extra hour today. Highly unlikely they pay it, but i did include PSN 24 outage cost as well.
Jokes aside it’s good that Sony has console sales to lean on to shield them from the fact the PS5 has been their worst PS generation ever and it’s running out of time to change that. All the YouTubers and fanboys will defend Sony to the hills and back. But i am so bored with PS5 i am considering selling it for a Switch 2 and playing on that and Series X until PS6 comes out. To be noted i only pl
