The Octagon returns to the Apex on Saturday night for UFC Vegas 107.

Ahead of May 31, the card suffered several setbacks at one of the most dramatic and chaotic weigh-ins in quite some time.

Weight misses and cancellations dominated the talking points after fight fans had a week break from the MMA leader.

Despite some concerns after she missed the flyweight limit, Maycee Barber is still set to compete in the main event following some worrying signs on the scales.

Barber and Erin Blanchfield had already been exchanging comments in the build to this fight which has only continued as a result of the final hurdle before fight night.

Ahead of May 31, Erin Blanchfield made some comments about whether Maycee Barber would make it to their UFC Vegas 107 main event.

Barber responded by calling her opponent’s statement “dumb”, stating on The Ariel Helwani Show that she’s only pulled out of two fights in total and that on both occasions, it was due to some serious issues.

The 27-year-old hit back at Blanchfield with some insults of her own, criticizing her “boring” and “terrible” fighting style which has seen her go 7-1 inside the Octagon.

Barber does appear to have made it to the fight at this moment in time but there were some concerns after she stepped on the scales and missed weight by half a pound.

Blanchfield looked to get the last word in before fight night when she shared a video of their face-off with a caption that referenced her previous comments, tagging her opponent in the Instagram story.

Barber responded with her own final thoughts before they meet inside the Octagon, simply writing, “Still you” following a tense stare down between the two exciting contenders at 125 pounds.

The UFC women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, has options right now in regards to her next move.

Not only is there a potential super fight with strawweight champion Zhang Weili, Natalia Silva already planted her flag as the top contender with an impressive win over Alexa Grasso.

Both Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber need to produce something big if they were going to show why they deserve to fight Shevchenko next.

This expectation has only increased for Barber who will now have to overshadow her weight miss along with putting herself in position for a title fight.
