William Byron wins the Daytona 500 for the second straight year, edging Tyler Reddick in overtime. Two-time race winner Jimmie Johnson, who started 40th, finishes third.
An overtime crash costs Corey LaJoie and Denny Hamlin — seeking his fourth race title — opportunities to win at Daytona International Speedway.
Byron started 5th and led 9 laps. He’s the first back-to-back winner since Denny Hamlin in 2019 and ’20.

Crash on Lap 196 brings out caution: Christopher Bell, fighting for the lead, gets into the wall after a push from Cole Custer, and Ryan Preece flips after being struck. Kyle Larson, Daniel Suarez, Bubba Wallace, Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, Erik Jones and Brad Keselowski are also involved. All the drivers report they are OK.
