A SpaceX rocket launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Southern California could be seen from across the state, which prompted concern from some who were unaware of the project.

According to a news release from SpaceX, it was a Falcon 9 launch of 23 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit. Liftoff was set for 6:09 p.m.

While Vandenberg is in Santa Barbara County, the satellites could be seen from Northern California.
